After 31 incredible years, 2026 marked the final Byron Bay Triathlon in its current format, an event that has become a favourite for so many. While this chapter closes, there's plenty to look forward to, with a new format on the horizon that promises to be just as much fun.
Race day began with a slightly daunting swim, though lets be honest, for many triathletes the swim most often is! A bit of patchy rain kept many worried during bike racking, but thankfully the skies cleared enough and held off for the main events.

A highlight for many was the new run course through the wetlands, which added a fresh and scenic element to the race. Behind the scenes, it was an early 5am start for our incredible club volunteers, while close to 800 competitors rolled in for the later start at 7:40am.
Being the host of a major event comes with its sacrifices, and many of our members gave up their chance to race and help make the day run smoothly. A huge thank you to our vollies who did an exceptional job as always.
It was also a joy to watch the 63 kids take part in their own category of triathlon. There energy and smiles were the highlight of the event.
And lastly, a big thank you to Peter and Nerida for hosting another fabulous after party!
This was the last race for the 2025/26 North Coast Interclub event and here are our club results
