We are excited to announce three exclusive WOMEN'S ONLY sessions happening over three days in Byron Bay! These sessions are completely FREE for Triathlon Australia members. For any non-members the first five participants who commit to all three sessions will receive a complimentary 8-week trial membership, which will include insurance coverage for the sessions and a 1-day race licence in case you feel tempted to enter a triathlon. Don’t miss this fantastic opportunity to train, connect, and elevate your triathlon journey!


Sun - 02 Nov 08:00 - 09:00am

DAY 1, you'll learn about basic ocean safety, understanding tides, currents, and ocean conditions. You'll also discover the best techniques for swimming through waves and strategies for managing them. There will be breathing and floating exercises and generally getting comfortable in the ocean. This session is being run by Jan Safranek & Scott Sewell - BBSLSC Water Safety Officers and Experienced Triathletes


Fri - 07 Nov 17:30 - 18:30

DAY 2, involves building confidence and open water skills - This session will be run by TA Coach Liz Blatchford


Sun - 09 Nov 07:00am -09:00am

DAY 3, is about building stamina, skills and independence. Learning Practical skills with TA Coach Liz Blatchford will include:

  • Group swim practice in the ocean

  • Race starts techniques

  • Practice sighting and turning around buoys

  • Mini Aquathlon event 400m swim + 4km run

COACHED by Liz Blatchford; a retired professional triathlete turned coach with Reed Performance Group. With a lifelong background in Open Water swimming and Triathlons since the age of 13, Liz has had an 18-year career that included numerous World Cup wins, representing Australia and Great Britain in major competitions like the Commonwealth Games and World Championships. Transitioning to long course racing, Liz quickly established herself as one of the top athletes globally, winning Ironman and 70.3 races, including three consecutive Ironman Cairns titles and two Kona podiums. Since beginning coaching in 2014, she passionately helps athletes of all levels achieve their goals, drawing on her extensive racing experience.
